 Message from Chairman
In our ever changing society, the cries and needs of underprivileged and disadvantaged children and families are even greater and getting more complex. We are able to serve a significant increase in number of clients for the last several years. We are also seeing many lives touched and transformed. Many are able to see through their difficult circumstances that there is a hope and there is also a future. This is due to efforts of our committed staff, volunteers, caregivers, sponsors and donors who stand alongside Life Community Services Society( LCSS) in discharging our responsibilities to our clients - children and families in need.
LCSS hopes to produce volunteers from the beneficiaries of our various programs. We have clients who having benefited from our programs come back to serve. A good example is this secondary 4 boy from the community who joined our MightyKids, Families and Community ( MKFC) program a few years ago. He willingly helped some of the more needy cases. One night, he and a staff accompanied a needy family to meet the local Member of Parliament till past 10pm. He provided the dialect translation for the family during the meeting.
Our Friends of Children (FOC) program reaches out to children with incarcerated parent/s. A number of the children has since joined our Friends of Youth (FOY) program and are contributing as team leaders to conduct FOC activities. We also have youths volunteered as photographer and guitar jam group head during our events and regular classes respectively.
In our Life Student Care program, the upper primary students are given opportunities to serve as buddies to the lower primary students. A few of our graduates returned to the Centre to volunteer their services during events.
It is when beneficiaries begin to plough back in service that we see the true fruit of our labour. We hope to produce many more as we invest in the lives of these children and families. The theme from Zero to Hero is indeed very apt for our 2010 Children’s Party.
On behalf of the Board of LCSS, I express our grateful thanks to all the staff, volunteers, caregivers, sponsors and donors for your sincere and whole hearted participation in working, giving and sponsoring the FOC, FOY, MKFC and LSC programs. We look forward to many more years of successful partnerships to touch lives.
Finally, we want to acknowledge and give thanks to God in seeing LCSS through the challenges all these years. He is ever faithful and has been our source of strength and blessing.
